Good luck charm! Makeup-free Edie Falco throws the first pitch as the New York Mets go on to beat the Atlanta Braves

She may not have the fast ball power of pitchers Matt Harvey and John Niese.

But Edie Falco gave it her all when she threw out the first pitch before the game between the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, on Thursday.

The 51-year-old, who hails from Brooklyn, walked on to the field wearing a black leather jacket and a long-sleeved jumper in blue, the Mets' colour, plus black jeans and black booties.

She left her shoulder-length hair to blow in the slight breeze as she approached the mound and wound up for her pitch.

The Sopranos star was obviously the home team's lucky mascot as they won 6-3, sweeping the seven-game series against the Braves.

Edie has more time on her hands for sporting events and her two children, Anderson, 10, and Macy, seven, whom she adopted as a single parent.

The role followed her part as Carmela, mobster Tony Soprano's wife in The Sopranos, HBO's hit drama that ran from 1999 to 2007. It ended with one of the most inconclusive finales ever.

Will Nurse Jackie suffer the same fate?

'In a perfect world it lives up to all that you've come to expect in the show. I feel very much that it does,' she told Fox News. 'I'm proud of it. It feels honest.'
