If rumours were still swirling that Johnny Depp and his new bride Amber Heard are on the rocks, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star put them safely to bed on Friday.

The dashing actor was spotted stepping out for a spot of retail therapy with his lady love on Australia's famed Gold Coast, with the newlyweds putting on a decidedly united front.

Gripping tightly to the 28-year-old actress' hand, Johnny, 51, sent a very clear message about his relationship status.

The couple, who wed just two months ago, may have been scouting for a belated present for Amber who celebrated her 29th birthday on Wednesday.

She was seen smiling widely as they exited an antiques shop and hid behind a pair of oversized shades.

Dressed casually, the beauty slipped her enviable figure into a nude crocheted dress that clung to her curves.

A statement blue and silver necklace injected a burst of colour to her look and she sported a ruby red manicure.

The Three Days To Kill star's sunkissed blonde locks were left loose and fell over her shoulders as she and Johnny continued down the street towards a chauffeur driven car.

An onlooker who saw the pair shopping told Daily Mail Australia they appeared very loved up.

Under wraps: Johnny, who had to take a break from filming the latest installment of the Pirates franchise due to an injured hand, still had a bandage wrapped around his right index finger

'They looked very lovey-dovey and were holding hands and kissing in the store,' they said.

'He had his hand around her back while at the cashier.'

And it appears there was a lot the couple liked as they left with two boxes full of vintage goodies carried by one of their entourage.

Johnny, who had to take a break from filming the latest installment of the Pirates franchise due to an injured hand, still had a bandage wrapped around his right index finger.

He covered up in an edgy leather jacket worn over a printed T-shirt and kept a King Ropes embossed cap over his hair.

The couple jetted into Brisbane together earlier in the week and were photographed descending from a private plane with their fingers interlaced.

Both firmly still wearing their wedding rings, it was the first time Johnny and Amber had been seen together in public since their February 3 nuptials.

It came after People.com claimed they were 'leading separate lives', but it's clear the celebrity couple are anxious to put the rumors to rest.

Amber's appearance by her husband's side as he returns to work in Australia is surely designed to dampen speculation that all is not well between them and to quash further reports that Johnny had been struggling to control his partying during filming.

The actor, who is reprising his much-loved role as Captain Jack Sparrow, had been spotted partying up a storm at a number of musical events including a Foo Fighters concert in between his filming schedule.

He also showed up for a Marilyn Manson show in Brisbane, even appearing on stage with the famous rock star.

The actor flew back to LA after injuring his right wrist on March 10 and it had been thought he would only be gone for a couple of weeks, prompting more speculation about what was keeping him from the set of the Disney film.

Amber and Johnny legally married at the 21 Jump Street star's LA home on February 3 and then jetted off to his private island in the Bahamas for a more traditional celebration a few days later.

But according to the People.com story, the pair's busy schedules cut their honeymoon period short with Amber heading to London to shoot The Danish Girl, and Johnny jetting back to LA.

An unnamed source told the magazine that 'it's not surprising' the two aren't spending much time together.

'They seemed to have a lot of relationship problems in the months leading up to the wedding,' the source said.

'When the wedding finally happened in February, it had been postponed several times... Amber had her wedding dress for months before they settled on a wedding date.'
