Taking fashion liberties! Jerry Seinfeld’s wife Jessica stands out in spirited ensemble (with a New York tribute top)

Jerry Seinfeld was supposed to be in the spotlight, but once again his talented but sometimes fashion challenged wife beat him at his own game.

Jessica Seinfeld must have turned heads as she arrived alongside her famous husband to The Late Show With David Letterman in New York City on Thursday.

The mother-of-three, 43, wore baggy black trousers with a very interesting, very spirited top on which was printed the Statue Of Liberty.

Jessica's hair was a platinum blonde bob that fell a couple inches short of touching her shoulders.

Adding some cheering colour were the pastel pumps adorning her feet and a rather bright chartreuse bag.

Jerry, 60, was decked out in dapper style, wearing a blue suit, white shirt and patterned tie, along with polished brown shoes.

The former star of Seinfeld is one of many famous celebrities invited to appear on The Late Show With David Letterman before the amiable host retires after 22 years.

Following the appearance, which will air on Friday, Jerry and Jessica headed over to their favourite Italian restaurant, Del Posto, for a celebratory dinner.

Posting a snap of the couple to Instagram, Jessica wrote: 'Celebrating Jerry's 50th @Letterman show in 33 years at our @mariobatali 's DEL POSTO.'

'The place where we celebrate life's great moments:' Jessica then took her spirited top to dinner with Jerry and their brood at Mario Batali's Del Posto restaurant

She continued: 'The place where we celebrate life's great moments.'

Jessica's fashion choices might have puzzled some as she and Jerry took their brood, Sascha,14, Julian, 12, and Shepherd, nine, to see the play Hamilton in NYC on April 12.

On that occasion, the cookbook author was clad in baggy khaki trousers with a red belt, a beige sweater over a collared shirt, and animal print heels.

Speechless: Mrs. Seinfeld must have had some people puzzled when she put on a pair of baggy trousers for a family outing to see the play Hamilton on April 12 with Jerry and their kids Sascha, Julian and Shepherd
