He's a big star now with blockbuster Guardians Of The Galaxy and hit TV series Parks And Recreation under his belt.

But life was very different for Chris Pratt when he was a broke 19-year-old wannabe actor living in a van by the side of the road on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

On Thursday, the hunky 35-year-old revealed what it was like to return to the island to shoot Jurassic World in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

'It was so surreal - one of those weird full circle things that happen in life,' he shared.

The 6ft 2in star, decked out in a black Henley shirt, black jeans and black lace-ups, bubbled with surprised laughter when Ellen showed a snap of him with the van on the big screen behind them.

The actor is also proudly holding a document high in the air.

That's how it was: The 35-year-old shared that he had lived in a van on the roadside on Maui when he was a broke 19-year-old wannabe actor

This van?: The actor was surprised when Ellen showed a shot of him next to the vehicle holding a document in the air. He said, 'That’s the script that got me out of Maui. I got paid $700 to do Curst Park Three'

Ellen asked: 'Would that be you in the van?' and Chris replied: 'That’s me and that’s literally the script that got me out of Maui. That script is for Curst Park Three the movie that I got paid $700 to do.

'I was like “Score! I live in a van.” I was like “Yeah! [$700} To act? OK, woo hoo!" That $700 lasted me one year.' he added as the audience clapped and laughed.

Chris, who recently returned from a trip to Hawaii with his wife of six years, Anna Faris, and their two-year-old son, Jack, also took part in one of Ellen's joke quizzes.

The host pitted him against six-year-old self-described dinosaur expert and viral video star Noah Ritter in a trivia game called Dino Right Or Dino Wrong.

The boy bounced on to the set, punching the air, and proceeded to cream Chris with his superior knowledge, beating him six points to two.

Jurassic World, which takes up the story 22 years after the 1993 film closed, hits the screens on June 12.

Meanwhile, Mom star Anna was all smiles while out and about in the Studio City neighbourhood of Los Angeles the same day.

The 38-year-old was casually dressed in a grey zip-up hoodie over a white T-shirt, blue jeans and trainers with a blue cap covering her long blonde hair.
