Off the market! Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick 'finally sell historic Manhattan townhouse after slashing the price to $19.95m'

The extravagant Manhattan townhouse owned by Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick is finally off the market, after being up for sale for nearly three years.

After the famous couple slashed the asking price of their New York City mansion late last year by over $2m (£1.33m), and following a further wait and change of seller, it seems they have found a buyer.

The five storey, 6800 square foot property has been on the market since 2012, and according to New York Daily News, it is now under contract.

The last reported asking price for the actors' home was $19.95m (£13.2m), although it is not known if this is what it has sold for.

The Sex And The City star's idyllic, expansive now-former house is based in Greenwich Village, and was first touted for $24.995 million in 2012 - according to Zillow.com - after purchasing it a year earlier for $18.995 million.

And in September 2014, they slashed the price by nearly $3 million, setting the price to $22 million.

But it seems it took one further price drop and a change of hands to brokers John Gomes and Fredrik Eklund to attract an interested party, as a contract is now said to be under offer.

The historic townhouse, built in 1846, includes five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a split-level garden and a double parlour with 12.5-foot ceilings and a 'hand carved' marble fireplace.

There is also dining room in the 25 ft-wide property, with floor-to-ceiling double-paned mahogany windows and all the bells and whistles befitting a wealthy Manhattanite.

The 50-year-old actress and her 53-year-old husband, who have a son James Wilke, aged 12, and five-year-old twins, Marion and Tabitha, reportedly never lived in the home, as it was purchased as an investment.

The family's main residence is reported to be a $3 million townhouse in the West Village neighbourhood.
