#MyKidCantEatThis: From toast that's too crunchy to blueberries that aren't purple - The frustrating (and hilarious) excuses fussy kids give mum and dad for not eating their food

  • Parents whose children won't eat their food are posting pictures online
  • They share photos of their kids' tantrums with the tag #mykidcanteatthis
  • The reasons the children won't eat their meals range from 'the toast is too crunchy' to 'the blueberries aren't purple' to 'it's on the wrong plate'

They're the frustrated parents whose picky kids refuse to eat their food for reasons as trivial as 'it's on the wrong plate'.

But now the parents who can't persuade their stubborn children to eat are getting their own back – by posting pictures of their tantrums and uneaten food on social media.

The best pictures posted with the hashtag #mykidcanteatthis have been collected on Facebook and Instagram accounts of the same name.

My kid can't eat this because I cut it in half and put butter on it. He apparently wanted it plain. This was after he carried around the muffin mix and begged me for two hours to make it. #mykidcanteatthis #muffins #crybaby

From toast that's too crunchy, to blueberries that aren't purple, to muesli bars that come in strange new packaging - the explanations their children give for why they can't eat their meals range from the silly to the downright irrational.

One parent posted a picture of their kid refusing to eat their food 'because ther syrup is not on the right place on the plate'.

Another posted a picture of hash browns with the caption: '#MyKidCantEatThis because it has "creeps" on it...(black pepper).'

And another frustrated parent posted a picture of the bread roll, explaining: '#MyKidCantEatThis because the flour on the bread makes her hands feel weird.'

But it seems many parents of fussy children are taking comfort in the fact that they are not the only ones who have to resort to mind games to get their children to eat dinner.

Photos posted to the Facebook and Instagram accounts have attracted comments from other parents such as: 'Oh my god! I thought it was just mine!'

'This tragedy has also struck my home.'

Another parent commented: 'Story of my life!'
