A string of scandals at the bank, as well as its spluttering performance, has made the issue of executive pay increasingly sensitive for investors. At HSBC's annual general meeting, they had their first chance to vent their frustration since allegations emerged in February that the bank helped wealthy clients evade tax in Swiss bank accounts.
INVESTMENT EXTRA: Funds still stocking up on Britain's grocers - and stress that in the long haul it may pay
Fund managers and brokers continue to put the case for keeping your money invested in the nation's grocers - and stress that in the long haul it may pay off. Richard Buxton, who runs Old Mutual's UK Alpha fund, has bought just one stock this year: Tesco. He originally sold the shares in 2010 at £4.25 and recently bought them back at £1.75. He says: 'It's going to be a long haul but the new chief executive Dave Lewis is doing all the right things.'

MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
'Someone drove into my car and now MY premiums have gone up': Drivers' insurance costs soar after accidents that weren't their fault - even if they don't make a claim
The policy, adopted by the majority of car insurers, means that cautious drivers end up paying for the mistakes of other more careless drivers through their car premiums. Drivers complain of being penalised for their honesty - after all if they don't tell their insurer they might never find out and their premiums remain unaffected.
Top ten holiday home hotspots revealed: Cornwall is favourite - and 165,000 UK households own second property for leisure
Of all properties in Cornwall, 6.2 per cent - some 10,169 - are used solely as holiday homes, research from Direct Line shows. Also in the top three are Gwynedd, in Wales, and North Norfolk. Supporters see the increase in second homeowners as bringing money and business into areas, while critics say second home-ownership has driven up house prices.
SIMON LAMBERT: Eight simple but important lessons about money
From banks to credit card firms, fund managers and shops, there are a lot of smart people whose job it is to try and take your cash off you. Learning more about money is a good way to keep hold of it and make more of it. Here are some simple but important things I'd teach people about money. What would you suggest?
The flash crash has been blamed on a Hounslow trader, but Michael Lewis says it's high frequency traders we need to beware
The 'flash trading' scandal is a result of the 'culture of greed' on Wall Street, says the author who uncovered the story. And Michael Lewis says there will be more scandals unless there is 'fundamental change' in the way bankers are rewarded. Lewis is no academic economist. He was a successful trader on Wall Street and in the City before he wrote 'Liar's Poker' in 1989 - the classic insider's account of the 80s boom.
Would you buy a home under the hammer? How to invest in property at auction - or even get on the housing ladder
Record numbers of buyers are turning to property auctions where as long as you can finance a winning bid you can lock in a property purchase within minutes. But you need to brave and sometimes willing to enter a bidding war to secure your dream property, so is it worth buying a home under the hammer?
LEE BOYCE: Is Tesco the next Woolworths: jack of all trades and master of none?
If Tesco is not careful, it could become the next Woolworths. Beloved Woolies was also once a British staple, which seemed like would never disappear. Tesco is trying to be a one-stop shop for everything. Electricals, clothing, mobile phones, banking - the majority just want to go in for their weekly food shop. It could be its downfall.

Our cars were written off while parked on the drive, so why are insurers still arguing?
A mum and her teenage son have faced a year-long battle with insurers after their cars were written off while parked on their own driveway. Sixth-form student Josh Coultas and his mother Jaki Cowling were sitting in their front room when they heard a loud bang outside. Looking out the window, they saw his red Ford Fiesta, which had been parked on their driveway, was in a neighbour's garden.
How saving works: Your essential guide to building up a nest egg
There are many good reasons for saving. A rainy day fund can give you protection against unexpected bills or losing your job. Tapping into your savings is also the key to many of life's major events, such as buying a car, getting married or buying a home. The good news is that once you decide to get that saving habit there are ways to make it work even better.
Estranged bankrupt son forced his gran to buy four iPhone contracts - and O2 wants her to keep two at cost of £100 a month...
My estranged bankrupt son forced his grandmother, who is 85, to buy four iPhone 6 Plus mobile contracts from three operators for him, his wife and two daughters as Christmas presents. Virgin was brilliant and cancelled the phone charges; 3 insisted the contract be paid up; and O2 has insisted she pays £100 a month to the end of the contract.

Inheritance and gifts the only way for many young people to get on the property ladder, as more struggle to raise deposits
One in six young people between 25 and 34 years old said to have relied on inheritance from a relative to buy their own house, compared to just one in 20 people aged over 55, housing charity Shelter said. Half think their children will be able to buy their first home only after receiving an inheritance, a survey of more than 1,000 parents suggest.

New EU rules could stall Britons buying homes abroad with foreign mortgages - and make it trickier for some to buy in Britain
New rules mapped out by the European Union could be about to make it much harder for thousands of Britons to snap up a holiday home on the continent from next March. The Mortgage Credit Directive regulations could also make it more difficult for British workers who receive a portion of their wages in a foreign currency to obtain lending here, experts have warned.
