'Madly in love!' Jessica Simpson is the gushing godmother as she poses with BFF CaCee Cobb's new baby girl Wilder Frances

Her best friend CaCee Cobb, 37, and husband Donald Faison, 40, just welcomed the newest and smallest addition to their family - daughter Wilder Frances Faison.

And Jessica Simpson has been honoured with the title of godmother, taking to Instagram on Friday to gush about the new love in her life.

'Madly in love with my Goddaughter Wilder Frances Faison!!! I am beyond proud of @caceecobb and @donald_aison,' the 34-year-old singer and fashion designer wrote with a picture of herself cradling the newborn.

In the image, Jessica is smiling while wearing minimal make-up and is clad in an embellished denim button-down and plunging leopard shirt.

Her wavy blonde locks are partially pinned back, showing off her bold turquoise hoop earrings as she poses with Wilder.

The precious baby is sleeping, bundled up in a baby pink hat and blue, white, and pink blanket.

Jessica, of course, is no newbie to showing her maternal side, as she has two kids of her own - son Ace, one, and daughter Maxwell, two - with her husband Eric Johnson.

Earlier in the day, Los Angeles-based couple CaCee and Donald took to Instagram to announce their exciting news.

'Meet the newest love of our life, Wilder Frances Faison. #babygirl,' the doting mommy wrote with a picture of the couple's newborn.

Five days prior, she re-posted an Instagram photo in which she is standing bright and beautiful next to a friend and used the hashtags #SOLO #momsoffduty #lasthoorah to describe the image.

Her natural blonde curls complemented the soft lavender color of the dress and rested around her shoulders, as she placed her hand on her then-very round belly.

She must have given birth nearly right on time, as her #lasthoorah post suggested anticipation for the upcoming days to be quite busy.

The former personal assistant was seen in a similar maternity ensemble earlier this month, while meeting her best friend and former boss Jessica Simpson at a studio in Los Angeles.

Sporting very different outfits, the friends looked casual but nice in preparation for their outing. 

A long maxi-dress hugged inevitably around CaCee's belly, but she didn't seem to mind as she appeared to walk comfortably in sunglasses and flat sandals.

After six years of dating, CaCee and Donald wed at the end of 2012, in the home of Donald's best friend and Scrubs co-star Zach Braff. 

They welcomed their son Rocco a year later, at the end of 2013, and formally announced the expected arrival of their daughter at the end of 2014.

Neither are originally Angelenos, but they currently reside in Los Angeles with their two-year-old son and beautiful new baby girl.
