INDONESIA PRESS-Aneka Tambang's starts chemical-grade alumina smelter -Kontan

State-owned miner PT Aneka Tambang this month started operating its chemical-grade alumina smelter worth $490 million in West Kalimantan province, reported Kontan, quoting CEO Gatot Miraza.

The project is jointly operated with Japanese firm Showa Denko K.K.. The facility will have a capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year of which two-thirds will be exported to Japan and the remaining output will be for the domestic market.

The new facility is expected to meet 70 percent of total production capacity this year and will reach full capacity by 2016, the company's corporate secretary Tri Hartono said. (Kontan)
