Kylie Minogue pays tribute to her great grandfather as a host of celebrities take to social media to commemorate Anzac Day

A host of Australian celebrities took to social media on Saturday to mark 100 years since the brave Anzac troops arrived in Gallipoli, Turkey.

And among those stars commemorating the sacrifice made by the soldiers, was Kylie Minogue.

Posting on Instagram - on behalf of herself and her famous sister Dannii - she paid tribute to her late great grandfather on remembrance day.

The 46-year-old singer uploaded a brown grainy snap of her granddad in his military wear as she paid her respects to the solider with a heartfelt post.  

She captioned the shot: '@DanniiMinogue and I salute our Great Grandfather. In spirit at the Dawn Service....#AnzacDay' 

As well as making tributes online, stars across the country gathered for the dawn ceremonies to pay their respects to the 50,000 Australians and New Zealanders who fought on the shores of Turkey.

Jennifer Hawkins, 31, shared a shot of a large crowd gathering down on Bondi Beach as they stood in silence to remember the fallen soldiers while the sun set over the peaceful waves.

It's unknown if the picture is one she has taken herself or one she has plucked off the internet but the blonde stunner encouraged her followers to keep the servicemen in their thoughts.

She wrote: 'Such a powerful image. Lest we forget.'

She later posted a snap online of the large crowd huddled around the Australian War Memorial.

Former Bachelor star Sam Frost attended the North Bondi dawn service with her friends and family and managed to capture a tender moment on the sandy shore.

She wrote: 'North Bondi Dawn Service #nbrslANZACday2015 #100years'

Just 5km down the road, Laura Csortan turned out for the Coogee remembrance service as she watched the sunrise with her nearest and dearest while they marked the occasion.

Fitness guru Michelle Bridges beamed proudly as she watched the Anzac Day 100km 24-hour race alongside her dog Paddy.

Radio presenter Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald, 38, arrived at the Balmain service in Sydney and was torn up with emotion as he remembered those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Alongside a photograph of people gathering around the war memorial, he wrote: 'An emotional morning at the Balmain dawn service.'

He added: 'We will never forget the sacrifice you made #LestWeForget #AnzacDay'

US-born hunk Didier Cohen, 29 - who now resides Down Under - shared a black-and-white stock shot of a soldier carrying one of his own as he thanked the servicemen who fought for the country.

He captioned it: 'From a guy who moved to this beautiful country.. Thank you to all who served to keep this incredible place safe and free #AnzacDay'

Hugh Sheridan shared the same snap and wrote: 'God bless Australia and New Zealand, protect our shores and our brothers and sisters.
