He's normally seen out and about sporting a full head of hair.

But John Travolta went without his hairpiece and opted for a more natural look while working on his fitness in the wee hours of the morning.

The 60-year-old displayed his rarely seen thinning hair as he gave the thumbs up alongside a fellow gym goer at a local Planet Fitness in Florida.

The snap was posted by the gym goer to the social networking site Reddit on Wednesday, after he ran into Travolta while working out at 3am.

'I was really confused at first and got really choked up. It was surreal for a moment,' wrote the shocked fan upon recognising the Pulp Fiction star.

But putting his celebrity stature aside, Travolta immediately struck up a friendly conversation.

'He asked what I do for a living, if I was married, if I have kids, and what do I do with my spare time,' said the fitness enthusiast who was decked out in an orange shirt in the photo.

'We also talked about his jets. I told him he flys (sic) right over my house all the time and that my property is right by the south end of the Jumbolair runway.'

A certified pilot, Travolta owns a lavish estate near Ocala, Florida equipped with a runway leading to his front door.

When not keeping healthy with his training regimen, the husband of Kelly Preston is getting ready for his role in the upcoming FX series American Crime Story.

The ten-part drama will chronicle the infamous O.J. Simpson trial, with Travolta portraying defense attorney Robert Shapiro.

Executive produced by television titan Ryan Murphy, the show will also feature Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Cross and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian.
