'This is an adventure I have wanted to undertake for years': Retired Australian swimming champ Stephanie Rice reveals she's moving to America

She's Australia's golden girl of the pool but retired swimmer Stephanie Rice is taking the plunge and moving to America.

Fresh from her relaxing Christmas break at the O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland, the Brisbane-born beauty has returned home to pack up her life in preparation for the big move.

On Wednesday the 26-year-old took to Instagram to share an image of a collection of boxes and bags with her fans, alongside a heartfelt caption about the exciting new chapter.

'Packing is well underway, and dayum I am so over it now haha. I do love the cleanse and de-clutter but that wears off pretty quickly Hahahaha,' the mused.

Before adding: 'Thankfully this is the last move I will be doing in a while which is exciting and I'm SUPER excited about a fresh start.'

'I love having a solid base where u feel relaxed and secure and in a routine but I CRAVE travel and letting my gyspy [sic] soul run free.'

The Gold Medalist didn't specify where she would be based or what kind of work she'd be doing.

She went on to say: 'This is an adventure that I have wanted to undertake for a few years now and I am beyond excited that the time is now right. All in Diving Timing.'

The budding entrepreneur will surely have no trouble making a name for herself in The States considering her impressive resume. 

Following her retirement after a stellar swimming career, Steph has worked with Channel Nine's Today show as a health and fitness reporter. The star also won season three of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia.

Earlier on Tuesday Steph hinted big things were to come when she shared an inspirational business model on Instagram. 

'This is a beautiful way to look at business... And life in general. Always be grateful for the people, situations, learns and beauty around us,' she wrote.

However it appears Steph has one last family getaway to New Zealand before she jets to The States. 

'The last family overseas holiday I went on was a LONGGG time ago because I was always swimming and couldn't miss that much training so this is going to be so special,' she wrote on Instagram.
