Tiësto will search for the next wave of great DJs with a new reality competition called Your Shot. In the 10-part Vevo web series, 30 aspiring DJs will undergo extensive training and face off in various competitions before one DJ is ultimately crowned champ. The winner will perform alongside Tiësto at a Las Vegas gig as well as earn a slot at the 2016 Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Tiësto, voted Number One on Rolling Stone's list of 25 DJs That Rule the Earth, will be among the judges on the six-week-long competition. As opposed to other DJ competitions, no previous experience is required to try out as the competitors will practice their craft at the Your Shot Training Academy in Los Angeles. After the pack of 30 is wilted down to a Top Six, those contestants will voyage to Las Vegas for the Your Shot finals.
"I'm so excited about Your Shot because it takes the idea of the DJ competition and turns it on its head. This contest really provides aspiring DJs with an opportunity to realize their dreams," Tiësto said in a statement. "Many times people don't know how or where to get started with DJ'ing but the great thing about Your Shot is that win or lose, they get a platform to learn, grow and achieve great things as long as they are focused and dedicated."
The Your Shot competition began six years ago in Australia in an effort to "nurture and transform" the country's dance scene, a press release states. Eventually, Your Shot received more applicants than similar reality competition shows like Australian Idol and the country's X-Factor offshoot. For the American Your Shot, Trium Entertainment have teamed with 7Up and Vevo, which will broadcast the web series.
