NEW Bruce Jenner has emerged for the first time since revealing he is a woman. The 65-year-old stepped out in LA on Saturday looking happy, free, and as if the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders. The night before, almost 17million people tuned in to hear him publicly admit for the first time he identifies as a female.

The world first started to notice the dramatic difference in Bruce Jenner's appearance last year, sparking rumors about his gender identity. But the former Olympic champion and reality star actually attempted to transition 30 years ago, taking hormones for five years and growing 36B breasts. At one of his lowest points the 65-year-old considered fleeing to Denmark for reassignment surgery, before returning to America as his children's Aunt Heather. However, fear drove him to stop the process and he continued giving motivational speeches as a man. The first glimpse of what Bruce would look like as a woman came in 1981 (inset) during a Bob Hope special. He wore a dress, a wig and full make-up to spoof the Mandrell sisters with professional football player Merlin Olson.

Ashlee Birk (main) was 28 when her husband and the father of her children, Emmett Corrigan (together-bottom right), was shot dead by his secret lover's vengeful husband in 2011 at a Walgreens parking lot. Now, in an explosive confrontation on Dr Phil this week, Ashlee sits down with Kandi Hall (top right), the woman Emmett was having a longstanding affair with, and whose husband shot him dead. 'I'm not here today for you to fix me,' Ashlee tells Kandi. 'Because I've done that by myself.'

NEW Britt McHenry has marked her return to work by apologizing for her 'hurtful' actions and has asked fans for a second chance. LaTasha Gosling, 27, of Tisdale, Saskatchewan, in Canada, and her children Janyaa, 4, Jenika, 8, and Landen, 7, were discovered Wednesday. Steve O'Shaughnessy was found dead hours later at his residence, along with his and Gosling's six-month-old baby, who was unharmed. Gosling's family said O'Shaughnessy was scared Latasha would leave him for her husband, who she was separated from. Cops began following the wild animal after it was spotted scurrying through Battery Park City. Officers trailed it on foot and in patrol cars as it ran across roads and dipped between cars. On Friday, New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton thanked four Swedish cops who broke up a subway fight in The Big Apple this week. Tourist cops Samuel Kvarzell, Markus Asberg, Eric Jansberger and Erik Naslund broke up a fight between two homeless men on the Uptown 6 train this Wednesday. 'I would like to acknowledge them. There's been a lot of attention paid to them, appropriately so, over the last day or so: a New York Post story and some other coverage,' Bratton said.

'Black Mass' is already causing upset before its September release, with the families of Bulger's victims saying it glorifies the violence the gangster was known for and profits from their tragedy. 18-year-old Xie Xu (in black jacket) has been carrying his 19-year-old classmate and friend Zhang Chi (in blue jacket) to and from the school they attend together at Daxu High School in Xuzhou, a large city in the northern province of Jiangsu, in China, for three years (right). Zhang suffers from muscular dystrophy, a condition that weakens skeletal muscle which often makes it very difficult for those with the disease to walk or carry their own weight. The teenagers live in dorms close by to the school, and each day Xie carries Zhang from their rooms to the school, and back again, and helps him with daily tasks such as getting meals and washing clothes (left and centre).

Brynn Johnson (left) and Cassie Miller (right) have known each other for some time, but were brought together by tragedy last September, when Cassie accidentally ran over Brynn's daughter, Rowyn (inset), killing her instantly. The incident occurred in the driveway of Johnson's home when Miller was picking up her son for preschool. But Johnson forgave her friend, knowing the awful incident was an accident, and now the two have together started a charity to honor Rowyn and help other families who have gone through similar grief.

NEW Susie Clark, of Evening Shade, Arkansas, found the 3.69-carat, teardrop-shaped white diamond in a 37.5-acre search field in Crater of Diamonds State Park on Thursday, her last day of a trip to the park with her husband. The park holds the only diamond-bearing site accessible to the public, in the form of a large plowed search field.

A Turkish Airlines flight from Milan to Istanbul made an emergency landing at Ataturk Airport today after its engine caught fire. It is the latest in a series of such incidents that have forced the carrier to divert or recall flights. Television images showed firefighters approaching the plane at the airport and putting out the fire, and the Airbus A320 aircraft's passengers were evacuated safely.

An anonymous hip-shaking young boy is making waves with his impressive dance moves in recently-surfaced videos, one of which already has over 23 million views on Facebook. The boy's identity and home country are not listed - many of those commenting on the videos indicate he is from Iraq - but the hilarious clips have nonetheless started to build the youngster a huge worldwide internet following.

Indian Rapunzel Smita Srivastava is the current record holder for having the longest hair in India, which was measured at 6ft (1.8m) in the Limca Book of Records. The local celebrity's hair now measures 7ft, and she dreams of one day knocking current Guinness World Record holder Xie Qiuping, whose hair was measured at over 18ft in 2004, off her perch.

Marco Evaristti (left), the South American artist who is based in Copenhagen, poured red fruit dye into the Strokkur Geysir, found around 70 miles to the north east of Reykjavik, at dawn. When they boiled, vibrant pink steam blew up from the ground as a result. Professing that 'nature belongs to no one', he did not seek permission from local authorities before the stunt.
