Snooki's take on maternity fashion proved rather dangerous yesterday.

The pregnant reality TV star, who once vowed to avoid flat footwear in favour of her beloved heels, narrowly avoided a fall outside the Jersey Shore house after stumbling in her platform heels.

The 24-year-old almost went flying in her extremely high brown wedge shoes but luckily managed to compose herself before hitting to the ground.

The mother-to-be could later be seen giving her growing stomach a protective pat as she recovered from the mishap. 

She opted for more sensible footwear today as she headed to the gym with JWoow and Sammi.

Snooki arrived back at the Shore earlier this week and was pictured moving her numerous bags into the house, despite reports that she would be staying in a nearby abode this season.

A report in last week's Hollywood Reporter suggested that the expectant mother didn't want to 'share a house of debauchery' while pregnant with her first baby.

However it appears she may have changed her mind as arrived at the house earlier this week with a large pick up truck full of suitcases.

Snooki is expecting her first child with fiance Jionni LaVelle and although they are looking forward to welcoming a son, she admitted she was hoping for a little girl.

She told In Touch Weekly magazine last week: 'Everyone said I was going to have a boy, and they were right!

'I thought it was going to be a girl. I was hoping it would be, because all girls want girls. It's still my baby, no matter what. I'm excited either way!'

Snooki - real name Nicole Polizzi - also revealed the couple are considering calling their son Lorenzo or Jionni Jr.

Although she is famous for her hard-partying ways, Snooki has vowed to settle down when she becomes a mother.

She said: 'I'm not going to party hard anymore, even after the baby is born. Being a mom changes you.'

Snooki and JWoww are also set to star in their own spin-off show, which starts on MTV later this month.
