David Haye world set for autumn heavyweight showdown with Wladimir Klitschko

By Sportsmail Reporter

David Haye's hopes of a world heavyweight title showdown with rival champion Wladimir Klitschko moved a step forward on Tuesday.

Klitschko's American adviser Shelly Finkel revealed that an offer has been made to Londoner Haye, the WBA champion, to fight the WBO and IBF title-holder in September or October.

'Right now, we're really pushing hard to make Wladimir and David Haye,' said Finkel.    Emanuel Steward, Klitschko's American trainer, added: 'That's the only heavyweight fight the public has interest in. Beyond that, there's no fight at all. Nobody wants to see nothing but David Haye and Wladimir.'

Haye angered Wladmir and older brother Vitali, the WBC world champion, last year by wearing a T-shirt bearing the blood-spattered image of their severed heads and Steward said: 'Wladimir has never been this verbal about wanting a fight with any other fighter since I've been with him.

'David Haye has got Wladimir ramped up like I've never seen him. All of a sudden, Wladimir is talking back, and David has quit talking!'

The Hall of Fame trainer added: 'The intriguing part about David Haye and Wladimir is that they have both got fast hands and explosive power.

'They're the only ones up there with those kinds of skills so that's why people are saying "This is the fight that I want to see".'
