The showbiz rumour mill went into overdrive last week with lurid tales that Fortitude actor Luke Treadaway had cruelly dumped his actress girlfriend of four years, Ruta Gedmintas – and run off with her former Borgias co-star Holliday Grainger.

Even red carpet photographers were convinced the stories were true because Holliday was repeatedly seen on nights out with a man who looked exactly like Luke, 30 – and answered to his name when fans called out.

But now I can reveal they were all wrong – because Holliday is dating Luke’s identical twin brother Harry, who is also an actor, while Luke is still with Ruta.

To add confusion to the situation, Luke and Harry live in the same house, so Holliday, 27, and Ruta are seen by neighbours coming and going with what looks like the same man.

The Old Harrovian star of The Imitation Game has reportedly viewed a £10.8 million house in California’s Hidden Hills. 

And I can reveal the 38-year-old has also splashed out £3 million on a North London house and a pad on the Isle of Wight, near the village where he married theatre director Sophie Hunter in February.
