'Where is your lipstick? Put it on!' Modern Family's Julie Bowen says co-star Sofia Vergara 'is a great influence' on her
On ABC's Modern Family, Sofía Vergara plays Julie Bowen's younger stepmother.
But in real life, the blonde 44-year-old says the Columbian diva - who turns 42 next month - 'is a great influence' on her.
'Sofía is a great influence on being a woman, she's a great influence on accepting the power of pretty, and she's a great influence on having a sense of humor,' the two-time Emmy winner revealed on the summer/fall cover of NewBeauty.

'She doesn't go out without putting on lipstick and she is the first person to say to me: "Where is your lipstick? Put it on!" She's always at award shows telling me that. And I always feel so weird, like someone will think I'm trying too hard. She tells me all the time, "Who cares?"'
Bowen - born Luetkemeyer - said she didn't highlight her hair or get a manicure until she was in her 20s.

She said: 'There are people shoving you out there and yelling. As someone at home watching the red carpet show, it looks so glamorous, but it is very much a factory.'
The Happy Gilmore actress regularly 'steams her face' and said her skin is 'happier now' than it was in her hormonal teens.
'Knock on something, but I need less makeup now than I ever did and that feels really good,' she explained, noting she avoids acid-y products or granule-filled scrubs.

However, Julie does wish she could 'trade in some body parts' when she was younger.
