Erin O'Connor is androgynous in a waistcoat and cropped trousers with Jean Paul Gaultier at the 2015 Vogue Festival

The stars of the fashion world were out in force on Saturday for the 2015 Vogue Festival at the Royal Geographical Society in London.

As part of the sartorial weekend, model Erin O'Connor took to the stage to interview fashion pal Jean Paul Gaultier.

Erin went for an androgynous look in a matching waistcoat and cropped trousers worn with a striped top and reminiscent of Gaultier's classic men's fragrance bottle.

Erin, 37,  looked as trim as ever after giving birth to baby Albert Tate O'Connor Gibson last July.

Albert is her first child with tech businessman partner Stephen Gibson, who she lives with in New York's West Village.

The statuesque British model has been good friends with Jean Paul, having worked with her many times before.

But although they have known each other for two decades, it turns out they have never had a conversation about fashion.

In his talk, entitled Jean Paul Gaultier: A Life Less Ordinary, the French designer revealed that if he could dress anyone it would have been the Queen Mother or even her daughter Queen Elizabeth.

Erin admitted that Gaultier first came into her life through the late night 90s show Eurotrash, which he co-hosted with Antoine de Caunes.

It wasn't until years later the pair met properly at a casting. Erin confessed, 'It was like meeting the Wizard of Oz. I was like Dorothy. I realised I had met the man of my dreams.'

'We've spent many many hours together, me naked, you draping. Your imagination would run wild.'

She credits Gaultier with giving her the freedom to be herself, and says he was one of the first to challenge gender conformity.

Indeed in her first modeling job for a 1996 issue of i-D the Walsall born beauty was described as 'freak chic', but had the last laugh going on to model all over the world.

Jean Paul is equally complementary about Erin, saying 'She isn't only a model. She is quite art. She is like theatre. She is extraordinary inspiration. I should love to be with her every day.'

The designer, who celebrated his 62nd birthday yesterday, also admitted that he 'regretted not to have lived in London,' describing Paris as being very serious and a little 'snobbish' in comparison to the UK fashion capital.
