How I dropped 16lbs: Olivia Munn reveals her diet and exercise secrets

Olivia Munn has shared her diet and exercise secrets in the latest issue of America's Shape magazine.

The 31-year-old, who stars in I Don't Know How She Does It, revealed she once lost 16lbs in two months.

Munn tells the US fitness magazine how she came up with a eating plan a couple of years ago.

She says: 'First, I made up a diet I called: "If I can't see it, I don't eat it".

'For example, if you buy a roasted chicken at the store, it sounds healthy, right?

'But those brown juices in the pan are made of what? Sugar? Soy sauce?

'If I don't know for sure, it's not going in my mouth.'

And Munn says she didn't have to deprive herself to shed the weight.

Asked what she was allowed to eat on her diet, she says: 'A lot!

'I had a big breakfast, which was a glass of 100 per cent grapefruit juice, four hard-boiled eggs, two sliced tomatoes, and a mango.

'Lunch and dinner were chicken salads I made myself or a veggie burger wrapped in lettuce.

'I also snacked all the time: peanuts, dried fruit, turkey bacon. As for beverages, I drank water, water and more water.'

The actress also says that she tracked her weight the old-fashioned way - by going on the scales.

'Absolutely,' she says. 'I need to see the hard numbers in order to stay on track.

'I don't believe in the "jeans" test because it's easy to cheat.

'I have a pair that fits like sweatpants because I haven't washed them since 1998!

'God forbid I'd have to go through the pain of stretching them out again.'

Munn - who says that she loves Halle Berry's 'strong, feminine' curves - has also invented her own unique exercise routine that she does with her female friends.

'We make up funny dances about guys,' she says.

'I came up with dance aerobic routines that we do a few times a week to a 45-minute play-list.

'They have funny names like the One-Night-Stand and the Ex-Boyfriend.

'We all have that ex with the stupid dance who we love to hate, right?

'Mine did the jumping-up-and-down-fist-pump-in-the-air-with-an-overexcited-smile-plastered-on-his-face dance.

'It's so much more fun than the alternative workouts my friends plan.

'They always ask me if I want to go for a hike. And I'm like: 'No, why would I do that when I've got [the digital TV recorder] TiVo?''

Despite being a lads' magazine favourite Munn insists that she is both a girls' girl and a girlie girl.

'People often say: "You're a guys' gal because you love watching sports and telling jokes",' she says.

'Yeah, I am that person but I also like flowers and perfume, by the way.'

Speaking about her racy men's magazine covers she also says she wasn't afraid to be pigeonholed by doing them.

'Not at all,' she says. 'The idea that women can't be sexy and smart is so antiquated.'
