His romance with 'ultimate crush' Miley Cyrus came to a definite halt recently.

And on Friday, Patrick Schwarzenegger appeared not in the best spirits as he was spotted taste testing some food samples at Joan's On Third in Los Angeles.

The newly single 21-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver sported heavy facial hair and tried to go incognito with a sports cap.

Patrick was dressed comfortably in a grey T-shirt, olive coloured jacket, Adidas sweat pants and sneakers.

The University of Southern California student could not crack a smile during the outing however was in the company of some pals.

The Blaze Pizza co-founder was trying out multiple slices of gourmet cheeses at the high-end market.

On the same day, Patrick shared a message on his Twitter page that read: 'Can't sleep at all.'

Perhaps his sleepless nights are due to his recent break up with former love Miley, 22, who he had been dating for five months.

The separation was reportedly spurred on after Patrick was pictured getting cozy with another woman - a fellow USC student and friend - during a spring break trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

'They're just in two different places in their lives - he's in college and she's focused on her music and career,' a source told People.

'She had fun with Patrick and initially seemed to think it would lead to something serious. They had a hot thing going on in the beginning, but then it sort of fizzled out.'

Adding: 'They don't have enough things in common and instead live in different worlds.'

Patrick first admitted his romantic interests for the former Hannah Montana star in a May 2011 interview with Details Magazine.

At the time he was dating Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter Tallulah, but had mentioned Miley as his ultimate celebrity crush.

Back then, he revealed to the publication: 'My eye is set on Miley.'

While Patrick is wallowing over the split, Miley, on the other hand, is embracing her new single status.

The singer shared kisses with female friends as of late and was seen cuddled up to model Cara Delevingne in a recent Instagram post.

Instead of joining Patrick for his outing on Friday, Miley smoked a 'joint' by herself while laying down new music tracks at a recording studio.

Meanwhile, the Cyrus name may not be completely out of Patrick's vernacular as his sister Christina is reportedly still dating Miley's brother Braison.
