You did well in the ballot: David Beckham and his boys attend nail-biting Olympic basketball final alongside Jeremy Piven, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Boris Johnson

While many people in the UK have been frustrated by the difficulty in getting tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games, David Beckham and his brood certainly haven't had that problem.

After attending BMX, diving and athletics events to name but a few, the footballing superstar turned out for the final of the men's basketball this afternoon.

Accompanied by his sons Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, Cruz, seven, the Olympics ambassador sat through a nail-biting match, which saw the United States 'Dream Team' face some fierce resistance from the Spanish side.

Having lived in both Los Angeles and Madrid, it could have been a tricky one for the 37-year-old sportsman in terms of knowing who to support.

David and his boys seemed on the edge of their seats as they sat through the tense final, which saw the US team bag their fifth basketball gold medal in six Olympic games.

Romeo seemed particularly enthralled in the game, and was seen pointing towards the pitch excitedly, while elder brother Brooklyn nervously covered his mouth with his hands.

Meanwhile, David added yet another A-list pal to his collection of showbiz chums in the form of Entourage star Jeremy Piven.

The duo were seen chatting and joking as they took in the game together, and endured the nail-biting final from the comfort of their VIP seats.

But the Spanish and US teams also had a whole host of other stars cheering them on.

Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed to be making firm friends with Mayor of London Boris Johnson, with the duo enjoying a jolly good giggle as they sat through the match.

Perhaps the former Governor of California saw it as an opportune moment to discuss his political views with Boris.

Elsewhere, members of the Spanish royal family - as well as Prince Albert of Monaco and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark - turned out to support their national side in the nail-biting sporting event.

It was the closest Olympic final since the Soviet Union beat the Americans 51-50 40 years ago, and the second closest in Olympic history.
