A drunken man was charged with sexual assault after he groped girls of 14 and a crew member on board a U.S. Airways flight on Wednesday.

John Edward Bare, of South Carolina was traveling from Charlotte to Costa Rica on flight 1707 when he began making a nuisance of himself, ordering alcoholic drinks to the point that cabin crew refused to serve him any further booze.

The 53-year-old then started incessantly flirting with a female flight attendant, grabbing her on the arm and thigh and telling her ‘I want you’.

Later on in the flight Bare allegedly turned his attention to two 14-year-old girls who were sitting next to him.

He inappropriately touched the girls on the thigh, arm and face, the Charlotte Observer reported.

A fellow passenger, who could see that the girls were upset, sat in Bare’s seat when he left at one stage.

When he returned the woman told him he would not be sitting with the girls again, instead directing him to her old seat.

Clearly unhappy with the move Bare swore at the woman, who alerted crew members to the allegations.

On landing the flight was met by Costa Rican authorities who decided Bare would not be allowed into the country.

He returned to Charlotte with two immigration agents and was detained in Mecklenburg jail. He is charged with simple assault against a minor and interfering with the flight crew.
