No frills Robbie! Hollywood A-lister Margot shuns five star hotels for HOSTELS while on holiday because she finds them more 'fun'

She turned heads on the Oscars red carpet wearing a striking Van Cleef and Arpels necklace with an eye-watering price tag of $1.5million on Sunday.

But away from the glamour of awards ceremonies, Hollywood A-lister Margot Robbie would rather be hobnobbing at hostels than ordering room service at five star hotels.

The endearingly down-to-earth Gold Coast actress, 24, told Australia's Kyle and Jackie O Kiis FM breakfast show on Thursday that she'd rather book a room in a hostel or BnB while on holiday.

Speaking from Los Angeles where she's filming The Taliban Shuffle with Tina Fey, the refreshingly candid beauty said: 'They're (hostels) so much fun and you meet so many people.

'When you stay in a hotel everything's very planned and you only really encounter people you plan on encountering.'

The toast of Tinseltown, Margot has previously revealed she was in a hostel in Croatia when she got the call about an audition for her latest film, Focus.

Last year, while filming Tarzan in London, the adventure seeker actress thought nothing of escaping to Dublin to stay in a hostel, even though it was at the height of her The Wolf Of Wall Street fame.

'A couple of people were like "Oh, you look like that girl",' she said of being recognised.

However, the world famous ingenue managed to go incognito, saying, 'I guess they assumed... I wouldn't be staying at a hostel.'

Perhaps it's her Australian upbringing, but keeping her feet on the ground doesn't seem to be a problem for Robbie, who lives in a flat share with her pals in South London's borough of Clapham.

She's also eschewed Hollywood's leading men in favour of dating assistant director Tom Ackerely, a British talent, whose impressive film credits included Rush and Pride, amongst others.

In fact Robbie's straight forward, disarming confidence is said to be what scored her two most high profile releases to date - The Wolf Of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Focus, which she stars alongside Will Smith.

She says: 'I guess I've just been more focused on what I had to do in the audition that to be worrying about them... I don't really get nervous in the auditions it's more afterwards.'

In her audition for the Wolf Of Wall Street the actress reportedly won over Martin Scorsese by violently slapping Leonardo across the face.

Her trademark guile also caught the attention of Will Smith, when she called him a 'd***' at the Focus audition.

She told The Independent: 'Apparently when he walked out he said: "I like her. I think she's the right one." They were like, "you like her because she called you a d***". It ended up becoming a running joke in the film.'
