Indian link to US reporter's kidnap, says Pakistan

Pakistan said today there was an Indian link to the kidnap of U.S. reporter Daniel Pearl, missing for more than a week.

"There is an establishment of an Indian linkage into this kidnapping," Major-General Rashid Qureshi, top spokesman for Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf, told a news briefing.

"It's very, very unfortunate, I cannot go into details of that at this stage, but we are investigating that (link)," he added.

Pakistani police said they were taking seriously a death threat against Pearl, who went missing in Karachi last week, and were questioning the leader of a radical Islamic group suspected of involvement.
