One Direction star Niall Horan has led the dozens of tributes to BBC broadcaster Colin Bloomfield (pictured together right) who has passed away following a battle with skin cancer, aged 33. Bloomfield (left), who worked at BBC Radio Derby for 10 years as a presenter, reporter and Derby County commentator, died at a hospice near his home town of Shrewsbury yesterday morning. Fellow broadcasters have since paid tribute to the 'perfect colleague' and 'consummate professional' whose positive outlook on life made him such a popular figure. Derby County supporter Horan, who is one quarter of boyband One Direction, also described Bloomfield as a 'super great guy and great commentator' in a touching tribute. The star said on Twitter (inset): 'Sad to hear to hear of the passing of Colin Bloomfield. He was a super great guy and great commentator. And had a huge passion for Derby county, he will be sadly missed around the ground, condolences to his family and friends.'

Lindsay Sandiford from Cheltenham has been told that all foreign drug smugglers like herself in Bali will be executed by the end of the year, according to the hard-line government. Sandiford, who was part of a plot to smuggle £1.6 million worth of cocaine from Bankok into Bali was placed on death row two years ago. Her friend Andrew Chan, from Australia, is in the next batch to be killed, possibly on Tuesday.

Archaeologist Sergio Gomez found the liquid mercury in a deep tunnel of Teotihuacan, an ancient city that was once the largest in the Americas. He thinks it will lead him to the king's tomb. The chamber in which the mercury was found had been sealed for nearly 1,800 years.
