Newcastle boss Alan Pardew signs Charlton keeper Elliott to replace Celtic-bound Forster

Newcastle have signed Charlton goalkeeper Rob Elliott, 25, to replace Fraser Forster, who has gone on loan to Celtic.

Newcastle striker target Modibo Maiga, 23, will not risk injury for Sochaux in tonight’s Europa League tie against Metalist Kharkiv.

He said: ‘It’s clear: Newcastle want me and I want to go.’
