Is that an old suit? Singer Plan B's a shadow of his former self as he shows off weightloss at the BRITs

Rapper turned singer Plan B has been through a musical morphosis, and now it seems a physical one too.

Plan B, real name Ben Drew, arrived at the Brit Awards looking a shadow of his former self.

The 28-year-old British musician appeared to have lost a lot of weight since his appearance on last year's show. And his ill fitting suit appeared to be left over from his bigger wardrobe.

The singer arrived on stage to present the British Male Artist award and he joked about his slim looking appearance in his baggy suit.

He said: 'As you can see I've put on a lot of weight, sorry about that.'

From the state of his outfit it appeared that Plan B was wearing an old suit from his slightly tubbier days as his blazer and trousers seemed baggy on his small frame.

The Stay Too Long singer wore a grey suit, matching tie and a bizarre  tie-dye style shirt with grey suede loafers.

It is thought that Ben lost the weight last year to help with his film career and specifically his role in the new The Sweeney film.

The new film, directed by Nick Love, sees Ray Winstone, 54, take over the late John Thaw's role as Regan, with newcomer Drew playing Dennis Waterman's character Carter.

The show, which ran on ITV in the mid to late 70s, followed Regan and Carter, two members of the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad, tracking down criminals in London.

Drew, who won a Brit Award in February 2011, has already acted in Adulthood, Harry Brown and 4.3.2.1.

He admitted he was driven to shed some pounds after Ray made some comments about his waistline.

He told The Sun newspaper: 'Ray came into the studio and we were talking about my character and how someone as young as me has got the part.

'We were saying how I've got to be a man in his early thirties, super-smart, excels in exams, brilliant at sports and Ray looked me up and down and goes, 'Are you sure you're going to get yourself in good enough shape?' I thought right then and there, 'I'm going to do it'. That's the extra incentive I needed. I thought, ‘I'll f****** show you, pal’.'

Ben began a rigorous workout regime and cut out eating processed foods like pasta and bread.

He added: 'I'm just eating salad, steaks and fish now. I'm eating a lot of prawns. I love prawns. I've even been eating the prawns that have been in the fridge for a few days, it goes through you quicker, you know. That helps weight loss.'
