Lena Dunham is famous for regularly disrobing on her HBO hit show Girls.

And on Monday, Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd were determined to give the actress a run for her money on their TV show The View.

After introducing a clip from a recent episode of Girls, the two hosts disrobed with just a couple of black boxes covering their modesty.

'Apparently not everybody has body image issues because Lena Dunham took her nudity to new levels on the new episode of Girls where she strapped on some lingerie that let it all hang out,' said Sherri before showing the clip which featured Lena's character Hannah Horvath seducing her boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver).

'You know Lena, she gets press every week for being naked,' the 46-year-old star said. 'So we're jumping on the bandwagon.'

'It's true,' added Jenni. 'We want more ratings too. Take a little time to enjoy our view!'

Bigger box! Sherri questioned why more of her was covered up than Jenny

However, Sherri didn't seem too impressed with the size of her black box which covered her breast area and entire midriff as opposed to Jenni's smaller cover up.

'Wait a minute!' she shouted. 'Look at my box. Why is my black box so much bigger than yours?'

However, the ladies don't appear to be needing too much jokey nudity to attract viewers.

Since Jenni's début on the show and the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar — The View experienced only minor dips in the ratings, according to The Wrap with a 1.3 rating, the same as the previous season.

Meanwhile Lena, 27, defended her nude scenes on Girls earlier this year at a TCA panel when a male reporter told her he 'didn't get the purpose of all the nudity on the show by you particularly.

He added: 'Your character is often naked just at random times for no reason.'

'It's a realistic expression of what it's like to be alive, I think, and I totally get it,' said Lena. 'If you're not into me, that's your problem, and you're going to have to kind of work that out with whatever professionals you've hired.'

They both leave me cold with or without their clothes on. Neither of them bring any depth or meaning to The View. All Sheri does is scream her opinions down everyone's throats and Jenny is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Give me The Talk any day of the week.....
