Ray Romano stepped out with his family on Sunday for a charity fundraiser, the first time he's been seen in public since the tragic suicide of his young co-star Sawyer Sweeten.

The Everybody Loves Raymond star arrived with his wife for the 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit in West Hollywood.

Days earlier the actor led tributes to 19-year-old Sawyer, who played his son on the hit show, after he took his own life while visiting a family member's home in Texas on Thursday morning.

The actor was accompanied by his wife Anna and his daughter Alexandra for the fundraiser which raises money for Stuart House, a program run by The Rape Foundation which supports the needs of sexually abused children and their families.

Ray, dressed smartly in a olive coloured blazer and jeans, smiled for photographers and gave a wave as he headed inside with his family.

The Everybody Loves Raymond lead was one of the first to pay tribute to Sawyer when news of his tragic death broke last week.

Ray worked with Sawyer for nine years starting from when he was just a 16-month-old baby and said he was 'terribly saddened, by the news'.

He added: 'He was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around. Just a great energy whenever he was there. My heart breaks for him, his family, and his friends during this very difficult time.'

Sawyer's Raymond costar Doris Roberts paid tribute to him on Facebook, writing; 'It is with great sadness that I learned the news that Sawyer Sweeten, who played my grandson Geoffrey Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, died at his family's home in Texas.

'He was a very sweet young man who will be dearly missed. Make sure your loved ones know how much you care about them, and please check in with them if you haven't touched base with them for a while. It's very important to keep in touch.'
