Incredible images and footage taken from a drone over Kathmandu have revealed the shocking extent of the destruction across Kathmandu, following Saturday's devastating earthquake. Buildings in Kathmandu's historic Basantapur Durbar Square (pictured left) have now been reduced to rubble (inset left), while the open space, usually full of locals and tourists enjoying the historic sites (bottom right), is now full of desperate residents who have gathered there amid fears that their homes will collapse in the series of aftershocks (top right). Aerial images also show huge cracks in roads, fallen monuments and flattened houses after the Nepalese capital was rocked by a 7.8-magnitude tremor at the weekend. The city remains short on shelter, fuel, food, medicine and power as its people searched for lost loved ones, sorted through rubble for their belongings and struggled to provide for their families. One expert claimed the city moved 10 feet in just 30 seconds during the quake. Roger Bilham, a geologist at the University of Colorado, said portion of the Earth's crust around 120 miles long and 40 miles wide shifted south.
