He had a crazy night earlier in the week but on Sunday One Direction's Louis Tomlinson got back to work at the recording studio.

The 23-year-old star was spotted leaving a London studio over the weekend, just a couple of days after his hotel suite party where he was pictured with a suspicious looking cigarette.

Feeling shy, newly single Louis kept his head down as he headed home after working on 1D's new music, flashing a small smile for waiting fans.

Louis was dressed down for his studio day, wearing comfy black trousers, a hoodie and trainers.

He carried a backpack on his shoulders as he headed past waiting fans and to his car.

The star had had a busy day working on One Direction's fifth album, but earlier in the week he was busy making the most of his new single status.

A representative for Louis recently confirmed that he and girlfriend of four years Eleanor Calder had parted ways after reports swirled that he was pictured kissing an unidentified woman while One Direction were in Asia as part of their On The Road Again tour.

Celebrating his bachelorhood, the One Direction star invited a group of female guests back to his suite at London's Soho hotel during the early hours of Thursday morning after partying at Cirque Le Soir nightclub.

Members of the party are said to have included Calvin Rodgers, model Siovhan Tan, Jacquline Slavik and Jess Cowden with the heartthrob said to have taken a particular interest in one girl after he took her back to his room for six hours following their boozy antics.

The group reportedly sat up for 90 minutes and passed around a suspicious rolled up joint before he and the girl headed into his room alone.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for the star to comment.

Meanwhile, the day after, Louis was spotted leaving the hotel with a huge grin and wearing the same trousers he sported for his boys' night out on Wednesday.

The singer/songwriter looked a tad disheveled in his green coat and trainers but his broad smile suggested he had a great time, with the girls leaving a few minutes later. 

While he's been making the most of some rare time off, Louis and his bandmates will be back on stage soon.

In the week they start the next leg of their On The Road Again world tour, the boys will perform at Capital's Summertime Ball with Vodafone on Saturday June 6.

The band is the first act confirmed for the 2015 ball at Wembley Stadium and the performance will mark their first London date as a four-piece following the Zayn Malik's shock departure last month.

Liam Payne announced the big news on Monday morning on Capital London Breakfast show with Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon.

'Wembley is obviously one of the best places to play in the world so I’m well excited!' Liam told listeners.
