Simon Cowell shares a sweet shot of himself cuddling up to baby son Eric in bed as they watch The Lion King together

While he's developed a reputation as the tough-talking judge on such shows as The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, Simon Cowell is showing he's a big softy when it comes to his baby son, Eric.

On Monday, the music mogul, 55, took to his Twitter account to share a sweet shot of himself and his 14-month-old offspring lying in bed as they watched cartoon classic The Lion King on his tablet.

Simon captioned the adorable image: 'After watching the Jungle Book 1000 times we have moved on to the Lion King.'

Wearing a patterned Petit Bateau onesie, little Eric is seen staring intently at the musical action as he leans his head against his father's chest.

Simon, dressed in a grey T-shirt with matching bottoms, is shown dutifully propping up the tablet for his son's viewing pleasure while he gives his eyes a rest.

But later in the day, he was able to indulge in watching something more age-appropriate for himself, and enthusiastically shared the news with his almost 12 million followers.

'Am in New York tonight. About to watch the last episode of House Of Cards. I love this show,' he wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Simon recently admitted that he and his partner, Lauren Silverman, are eager to give Eric a sibling and are 'seriously' contemplating adopting their next child.

In an interview with the Daily Star, the TV personality said: 'I'm beginning to warm to the idea.

'We do want to have more children of our own but we could adopt as well. I wouldn't rule out it happening. It's a good idea.'

Simon's close pal and former girlfriend Sinitta adopted nine-year-old Magdalena and eight-year-old Zac just before Christmas six years ago with her ex-husband Andy Wilner.

Both of her children now have a close relationship with Simon as the trio regularly holiday with the music mogul.

So much so that the little ones also now enjoy a cute friendship with his son Eric too.

Commenting on Sinitta's children, Simon added: 'They are just so cute. I've known them since they were really young and they are just such great kids.'

Close friends of the X Factor boss have commented that he has never been happier since becoming a father for the first time on Valentine's Day last year.

Despite his former TV's Mr Nasty persona, many have said that Simon has become 'soft' - including his dear friend Amanda Holden.

Opening up about parenthood, Simon admitted he was concerned about little Eric - who is currently the sole heir to his incredible £300 million fortune - becoming a 'brat'.

To solve the problem, he revealed that he and Lauren have been teaching the young tot about manners and to 'always be kind to animals'.
