Slow but steady progress: Tracy Morgan continues to use his cane nearly one year after horror car crash as he joins fiancée and child for a shopping trip

Tracy Morgan was involved in a six vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on June 6 that put him in critical condition.

And although he is no longer in need of his wheelchair, the 30 Rock star continues to use his cane to be active.

On Friday, the 46-year-old actor and comedian was spotted at Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack, New York spending time with fiancée Megan Wollover, 27, and their one-year-old daughter Maven.

For the outing, Tracy opted for comfortable clothing and wore a patterned pullover, faded denim jean and white sneakers.

The Saturday Night Live alum covered his head with a white do-rag to color coordinate with his ivory hued ensemble.

Noticeably in his right hand was his black walking cane that he used as a crutch to move around.

His beloved Megan stayed close to Tracy as they made their way inside the shopping center.

The aspiring actress was dressed stylishly in a black top and matching fitted skinny jeans which she paired with a grey bomber jacket.

She accessorized her look with black high heels and styled her long tresses in a sleek ponytail.

Megan's mini-me Maven wore a similar jacket like her mother's with black leggings.

Clearly Tracy's recovery is continuing apace and is no doubt a testament to his determination to get back to 'normal' as soon as possible.

On June 6, he suffered traumatic brain injuries as well as a broken leg, a broken nose and broken ribs when a Wal-Mart 18-wheeler rammed into a limousine bus he and his friends were travelling in, leaving four people injured and comedian James McNair, 62, dead.

'[Tracy] is still struggling with rehab to get better. He's working hard to get well,' Morgan family lawyer Benedict Morelli told People in February.

Tracy spent close to two months in the hospital and in rehab before he was allowed to return home.

During his hospitalization period, Morelli said: 'He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that. But we just don't know because the severity of the injuries that he sustained and the fact that he had such a severe brain injury.'

Wal-Mart truck driver Kevin Roper, 35, was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto in New Jersey state court.

Tracy sued Wal-Mart for punitive and compensatory damages citing 'careless and negligent ownership and operation of its motor vehicle.'

In a response to the lawsuit filed in late September, the multinational retail corporation contended the victims' injuries were partly due to the fact that they weren't wearing seat belts.

'When you have a traumatic brain injury it takes a very long time to find out how you're going to do and how much you're going to recover,' Morelli stated in November.

'You just don't know. So that's where he is. He's still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he's just not better. We're hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury's out.'

Meanwhile, the family of James McNair settled its wrongful death claim with Wal-Mart in January and received a $10 million payout that was awarded to McNair's children Jamel, 26, and Danita, 19.

Of the $10 million amount, his children reportedly were given $7 million and their lawyer Daryl Zaslow took nearly $3 million.
