It's grand finale week! The Block's dream team Kyal, Kara, Brad and Dale win the final challenge knocking $27,250 off their reserve on auction day

It was a challenge that was as simple as it was insane: seven days to renovate seven rooms.

But The Block's dream team Kyal, Kara, Brad and Dale made the final test of the series look easy as they sailed through with laughs and high fives to win the challenge by a huge five points on Tuesday's episode of the show.

As Scotty announced the scores they punched the air with glee as the news sunk in that they had won $27,250 off their reserve on auction day, a huge $11,250 advantage on their competitors.

As last year's winners Alisa and Lysandra won by a narrow margin of $4,000 it was a potentially game changing result.

The chalk board revealed the twins and Steve and Chantelle had finished the task on 64 points and won $16,000 off their reserve, but were beaten by the awesome foursome who were awarded 69 points for their outstanding renovation.

Chuffed Dale said: 'It's just mental, it's unreal. We're so happy with it and we're just thrilled John and Dawn are so stoked for the win too.'

There was one couple who weren't happy with the results: the twins.

Alisa cried outside the scoring room as she raged about her team's score: 'How the f**k do we get a seven for a dining room they couldn't fault. A seven? We got near perfect comments about our dining room.'

While her twin Lysandra had her turn to vent: 'We don't want to look like bad sports but at the end of the day what else can you do?'

Like a dog with a bone Alisa wouldn't let it drop as she continued to lament her woes in bed later:  'Hoo f**king roo. I don't care about the high reserve, I don't care about any of that it's our reputation we can't get it back now.

Unfair! The twins ranted and raved about their poor marks after they delivered a near perfect dining room but scored 7.5

'I don't really give a f**k about the auction.'

Meanwhile as the realisation that their nine week Block dream was drawing to a close the contestants took some time to reminisce over their experience.

Favourites to win Kyal and Kara looked back over a journey peppered with highs as they remembered winning challenge after challenge and taking home three room wins, the most of any competitor.

The winning combination of Kyal's carpentry skills and Kara's eye for design has seen the talented twosome create a stylish, contemporary home perfect for a professional couple.

As Kyal affectionately said: 'I think we make a good team.'

While Kara replied: 'I always knew that.'

The couple who endured the bumpiest ride was definitely chimney sweep Steve and his milliner girlfriend Chantelle, the life long Blockaholics and renovation newbies didn't know what hit them in the first few weeks of the show.

Chantelle opened up about her experience: 'It was hard seeing Steve being a bit zombish. When you're having three hours sleep a night and then you throw an all nighter you go a bit crazy.'

While her partner said: 'I was definitely worried on a lot of levels that public perception was that I was lazy and I didn't want to contribute.

'It felt like I very rarely got my way because I was too concerned with not having this argument in front of millions of people. That was to the detriment of our relationship.'

Meanwhile Chantelle also spoke about her confidence taking a knock as the series progressed: 'The whole competition was really up and down.'

As she broke down into tears she said of her relationship: 'I don't really know where we're at. I don't know why but it seems like it wasn't that hard for anybody else. But, we did it.'

Despite feeling as if they were unfairly scored throughout the show, Alisa said of their experience: 'This is exactly the challenge we wanted and the free reign we wanted.

'The judges were never going to give us an easy ride, but maybe we need to take it as a compliment.'

The girls wowed the judges with their show stopping void installation and their spacious, high-end kitchen and living space layout.

While her sister Lysandra said: 'A year ago we were coppers in Adelaide, young mums, doing shift work. I don't think our lives could be any different.

'Hopefully we'll be the first couple to win The Block twice.'

Like rice and peas Brad and Dale were a matched made in heaven and looked back on a friendship that had flourished over the nine weeks, the men even cosied up sharing a bed in the first few weeks of the show.

'Which was when I found out that brad snores like a f**king demon,' said Dale.

While Brad agreed they were the perfect partnership: 'We compromised pretty well.'

Then it was time for the teams to scrub up and face 25,000 Australians who had turned out for inspection day ahead on the auction.

Tune in on Wednesday at 7.30pm for the final episode of the series on Channel Nine.
