Sneak peek! Kodi Smit-McPhee sinks his claws into Nightcrawler character in new X-Men: Apocalypse photo
Excitement for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse reached fever pitch on Monday with a photo release of the character Nightcrawler.
Playing the teleporting mutant is 18-year-old Kodi Smit-McPhee, a young but experienced screen actor whose introduction into the comic realm has been quick and explosive.
To celebrate the occasion, Smit-McPhee and executive director Bryan Singer posted a photo and short video of the stealthy character, only to remove them from Instagram minutes later.

'Catch him before he's gone...' Singer teased on his twitter account, posting a link that led to a six-second video of the blue character.
Joining in the camaraderie, Smit-McPhee posted a still photo of the same image, captioning it 'BAMF! Guess who? #Nightcrawler #XMenApocalypse.'
The tricksters tag-teamed the debut and delete of the image as they both deleted their posts from social media shortly after.
In style: The teleporting mutant will join other characters made from a star studded cast as the third of the newest X-Men series is set to release in May of 2016
Expected to debut in May of 2016, the upcoming film is said to be the third and final of the newest X-Men trilogy.
Starting with X-Men: First Class, followed by X-Men: Days of Future Past, the films have been packed with veteran stars that have carried them along the entire way.
Smit-McPhee joins Olivia Munn and Sophie Turner as some of the newest members to join a leading cast of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Hoult, and many other talented actors.

Although new to the X-Men team, this will not be the young Australian's first appearance with Fassbender.
The two recently co-starred in the film Slow West, in which Smit-McPhee played a young Scottish boy who journeyed across the the American frontier searching for the girl that he loves.
With the release of Slow West earlier this month, Smit-McPhee's attention is now turned to his superhuman role. Which will be based in the 80s according to Singer's latest Instagram post (which is less likely to be immediately deleted),depicting the setting and time zone for their first day of shooting.
