The recurring theme continued on Monday afternoon as Jesse Metcalfe and Cara Santana enjoyed another smitten display in Los Angeles.

Hand in hand and in equally high spirits, the animated couple laughed and joked while meeting a male friend in the sun-kissed Californian city.

Cara, 31, embraced the balmy conditions in a breezy white T-shirt and skinny jeans, the latter decorated with on-trend rips that exposed her knees.

The dusky actress completed her look with a pair of heavily tinted sunglasses, while her long dark locks preserved the understated look by virtue of a simple centre parting.

Strappy embellished heels gave her ensemble a distinctive flourish as she strolled the sidewalk with a boisterous Jesse.

The former Dallas star once again displayed his prodigious biceps, this time in a black vest top teamed with loose fitting khaki green shorts.

The actor is currently promoting zombie film Dead Rising: Watchtower, alongside Virginia Madsen, Meghan Ory and Dennis Haysbert – the film is based on the best-selling video game and was released online on Friday.

Jesse, who is used to playing the heartthrob, took on one of his most physically demanding performances yet.

'My role in Dead Rising: Watchtower allowed me to show a different side of myself as well as perform all of my own stunts,' he explained to Muscle & Fitness.

'I had pads on but was taking eight-to 10-foot falls on concrete day in and day out. So I was pretty much bruised head to toe... but it's the most fun I've had on set.'

The star added that he carried 'a few extra pounds between projects' but maintains his impressive body with a workout program that includes circuit training, group fitness, long runs, trail runs, boxing, MMA and yoga.

'I mix things up,' he said. 'You have to continue to shock the body.'

Speaking to Glamoholic, the hunky actor revealed his thoughts on his series Dallas getting axed in October after three seasons on TNT.

'We had a nice run. As an artist I like to keep it moving, and find new challenges, new sources of inspriation,' the former Passions actor explained.

'I'm not the kind of actor that would necessarily be content on a same series for a decade. I just don't think that's the career I want.'
