After throwing a raucous 36th birthday party with a 'Hot Mess' theme on Sunday night, it was back to business for Kate Hudson as she stepped out with her brother, Olivier, the following day.

Displaying her toned legs in a patterned minidress, the Hollywood actress was spotted at the offices of the prestigious Creative Artists Agency in Century City, California, on Monday.

And, given that that the talent agency represents a number of Hollywood's biggest names, it came as no surprise when the acting siblings bumped into Mel Gibson outside the building.

The trio were seen chatting casually in the sunshine as they stood by the imposing glass doors.

While Kate wowed in her patterned frock of choice, the mother-of-two added extra length to her shapely legs with a pair of open-toe brown heels.

Wearing her hair in a ponytail, the daughter of Goldie Hawn kept her eyes hidden behind a pair of stylish sunglasses.

The night before, she was seen sticking out her tongue and wearing pink fishnet thigh-high stockings at her Hot Mess party in Los Angeles.

Fashion writer Derek Blasberg posted the snap of Kate in full party mode as she pumped her fist in the air while posing alongside Tobey Maguire's wife, Jennifer Meyer.

He captioned the image: 'Last night me and these lovely ladies had a threesome birthday party and the theme was "Hot Mess" and none of us needed to go shopping for costumes @katehudson @jenmeyerjewelry'.

Kate has been enjoying single life, regularly hitting the town since splitting with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.

She was seen looking her usual sharply dressed self out for cocktails with friends in Beverly Hills on Thursday, as well as out celebrating her birthday this month with mom Goldie and Kurt Russell.

The How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days star ended her engagement to Matt last December.

The former couple have three-year-old son Bingham together and raised Kate's 10-year-old son Ryder, whose father is her ex-husband Chris Robinson.
