From Russia with mud: High suspension, pressed steel wheels and Soviet-style looks... Matt

This is a highly capable, ruftytufty 4x4 from Russia - for a fraction of the price of a new Land Rover. On the road, the basic 1.7-litre petrol engine (your only option) is deafeningly noisy, but tolerably smooth. Power steering, manageable dimensions and a tight turning circle make it reasonably practical for the supermarket or school run. You won't have to agonise over pages of extras because the Niva is an unabashed frills-free zone. This is a very basic utility vehicle, after all.

The new Honda Civic which the Japanese car firm?s UK factory in Swindon will be exporting to the world ? including Japan and the USA ? was unveiled in America tonight.

The wraps came off the prototype of the new 10th generation car at the New York International motor show.

It came just a day after it was announced that Swindon in Wiltshire will become the global production hub for the next generation five door Civic, supported by a new £200million investment.

Although the dramatic Kermit green prototype seen in New York is a three-door version, the Swindon factory will be exporting the five-door hatchback version around the globe.
A Honda spokesman said: ?With more focus on sporty, fun-to-drive dynamics the new U.S. Civic line-up will include Civic saloon , Coupé and Si models, along with the return of the Civic five-door

Clapped out 1962 Aston Martin DB4 on the market for £220,000 - because it will be worth THREE TIMES that if fully restored

1962 Aston Martin DB4 on the market for £220,000

The £220,000 purchase is an attractive prospect for many car enthusiasts by offering the rare chance to restore a virtually-untouched 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series III, and will be auctioned in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. But the restoration project will cost upwards of £350,000 - meaning whoever buys the car (above centre) will have to pay at least £570,000 to return it to its former glory. There were about 1,100 DB4 Series III cars made from 1958 to 1963 - and it is becoming tougher to find one that offers a restoration project.
