Here's looking at you, Kev! Kevin Spacey relives failed 'Humphrey Bogart' audition for 70s teen mag on Jimmy Kimmel Live

There are bogey auditions, and there are Bogey auditions.

Kevin Spacey was forced to relive one of the less-illustrious moments of his career on Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The 55-year-old sat and watched as Kimmel played a video from a 1979 audition to be a 'Teenage Idol' for Tiger Beat Magazine.

'I'm the type'; 'I think I'm photogenic'; 'Fun, money, girls'; 'I love the attention' are just some of the responses the interviewer gets from some very 70s looking wannabes, before the camera turns to a fresh-faced Spacey, inexplicably dressed like Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca.

'I want to act very badly and that's just part of it... it's like, I do an impression of Johnny Carson, it's not really what I do....' the then 19-year-old Spacey says as Kimmel's audience can be heard hollering and cheering their approval.

Laughed at the clip, the two-time Oscar-winner said it was from a time in his life when he was auditioning for absolutely everything.

'What was going on there was, It's funny, that was literally for Tiger Beat Magazine, it was like this big Magazine of sort of young actors, and I went to this cattle call,' he said.

'This was during a period where I had left high school, I had not yet gone to New York to go to Julliard. There was a two year period where I was going on auditions for everything.

'I auditioned for the Gong Show during this period of time. Yeah, I got pre-gonged, I didn't get on. And I was doing a Johnny Carson impression in nightclubs and stuff.'

Little did they know: During the interview, Spacey coldly calls out Tiger Magazine for overlooking him, giving them the 'finger of shame'

When an incredulous Kimmel - who has seen Spacey's near perfect impersonation of the late Tonight show host - asked how it failed to impress the judges, he replied: 'Yeah! how about that? Idiots. I auditioned and I didn't get on the show.'

He admitted he didn't even get selected by Tiger Beat to be a Teenage Idol in the end.

'No I don't think so. Because look, I look like Humphrey Bogart!' he giggled.

'Little do they know they could have had an exclusive, way back then. Boy, I bet they'd probably be around to this day, that's right.'

Spacey then turned directly to the camera and coldly called out the magazine - which incidentally still runs a website today - giving it the 'finger of shame'.
