  • The 20 hours a week job pays so well that Gail is buying a second home
  • The 'dream home' in Preston, Dorset, is worth half a million pounds

An Avon lady has just bought her SECOND home – worth half a million – after earning nearly £170,000 a year selling the beauty products.

Gail Reynolds, 44, from Bromsgrove, West Midlands, earns more than Prime Minister David Cameron selling Avon products door-to-door.

She is so successful she only has to work 20 hours a week.

The beauty queen, who was once so poor she asked guests to pay for their own dinner at her wedding to husband Brian, also 44, believes she might be Britain's best-performing Avon lady after earning the six figure salary.

But Gail is adamant that her mammoth pay packet had not gone to her head.

She said: 'I'm the same friendly lady I always was.

'I haven't changed – despite now having a salary I could never have dreamed of.'

Between April 2014 and April 2015 Gail earned £167,500 for a 20-hour week.

Mrs Reynolds started working as an Avon lady around 13 years ago and Mr Reynolds became an Avon man a year later.

They initially just went door-to-door, but then began training others.

'It took off more than we could have ever have hoped - once we couldn't get a mortgage.

'In 2006, we got a mortgage for a three-bed in Weymouth which we let out for £750 a month.

'We've got two cars, a Mercedes 220 and an Audi and next year I will be getting my third car.'

Gail is now helping others to achieve similar success - she is a trainer to over 2500 team members.

She said the family, including son, Ashleigh, 27, and daughters, Libby, 17, and Rosie, ten, also enjoyed holidays as a result of Avon.

'We're living in the Midlands at the moment,' she said. 'But very excited about moving - we've got a 10 percent deposit for it and will be doing it up straight away.

'It has got lots of land, is a minute from the beach and it's worth half-a million.

'It's beautiful - I am so excited and it's thanks to Avon.'

She said the family, including son, Ashleigh, 27, and daughters, Libby, 17, and Rosie, ten, also enjoyed holidays as a result of Avon.

Gail said: 'We go to Cyprus, Lapland, Orlando, Disneyland, Malta, Monte Carlo and Prague, but once we couldn't afford any holidays.'

Gail and Brian are enjoying their success now after struggling on low earnings when they first met.

Gail was a single mum, living on a council estate, surviving on the breadline on benefits.

She met Brian in a supermarket where he worked stacking shelves, and the pair got married in 2003.

When the couple married they were so hard up everyone who wanted to come had to contribute money for the wedding breakfast.

'Every spare penny we had went on our wedding fund. Our clothes came from charity shops and we never went out or even had takeaway,' she said.

It was then she began selling Avon products in her spare time to try and raise extra cash.

There still was not enough money to pay for the whole reception though, so she and her then-fiancé came up with a cheeky plan.

'We honestly didn't have any choice, we couldn't really afford to feed our guests - it felt rude but when we asked if they would mind contributing £10 each everyone was more than happy.'

In fact, realising how hard up they were, the couple's friends and family started offering to help in all sorts of ways.

Gail said: 'My old boss said we could honeymoon in his Spanish villa, a friend did the flowers and Brian's sister made our wedding cake.

'Their generosity meant so much to us. We had dinner in a local hotel. Although it wasn't fancy, we had a lovely day.'

'It was a true rags to riches tale - one minute we could barely afford to buy a burger, the next we could buy the shop.'

In June 2013 the couple renewed their wedding vows to thank people for helping them.

Gail, who now boasts a £7.5 million turnover, said: 'One day Brian just handed me a glossy brochure, it was for luxury wedding venues and suggested having our dream wedding – now that we could afford it.'

They invited everyone who had attended their first do – plus 100 more.

She said: 'No expense was spared - everyone stayed in the luxury hotel where we had the ceremony. After renewing our vows we had dinner in a room filled with hundreds of white roses and lilies.'

Mrs Reynolds got ready in a beautiful bridal suite, wore an £800 gown and the couple cut a wedding cake which cost £250.

They splashed out for a lavish dinner for their guests.

'It was the wedding of my dreams but our first will always be special to me as I really found out who our friends were and I feel very lucky to have them in my life.'

'Mum’s The Word is full of colour and real life stories - the book is to share my knowledge and expertise within the “Working from home” environment.

Millions of women worldwide dream of having time with their families and children and this book is to enable and encourage that.'

In an effort to inspire people by her career success, Gail also works as a motivational speaker and has spoken at the European Parliaments in Brussels and on BBC News and Sky TV.

She said: 'Professional speaking has now become my passion. It’s the reason I get out of bed in the mornings and the reason I am possibly one of the happiest working mums alive.

'I share my darkest days and my most memorable moments along with my business philosophies.'
