Former boxer Joe Calzaghe gives bikini-clad girlfriend Lucy Griffiths a piggyback ride before posing for selfies as they frolic in the Barbados sunshine

As his blossoming romance with Lucy Griffiths rapidly approaches its one-year mark, Joe Calzaghe is continuing to openly shower his pretty girlfriend with affection.

The retired boxer was recently seen giving Lucy a piggyback ride and posing with her for a series of selfies as they soaked up the sun on the stunning golden beaches of Barbados.

Displaying her taut tattooed body in a white bikini, blonde Lucy gripped tightly onto her burly beau's back he carried through the shallowest section of the clear Caribbean Sea.

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Joe also rested an arm on the freelance make-up artist's back as they used the warm waters as their backdrop for a series of sunny selfies together.

Earlier in the trip, they were spotted kissing passionately as they hung out on a sun lounger, where they sipped on bottles of beer during their time off work.

Lucy looked slim and toned in an orange and black bikini, while her man stuck to blue patterned board shorts.

The two enjoyed a jet ski ride and a swim in the ocean before the rain poured.

Lucy has been documenting their relationship on social networking site, Twitter in which she shares how much the pair love to travel together.

Their first public appearance was thought to be at the X Men premiere in London back in May, in which she took photos of them both walking down the red carpet. 

The pair have also snapped selfies of themselves at the Colosseum in Rome, snowboarding at an unknown location and then on a first class plane to their current vacation in Barbados.

Joe previously dated his Strictly professional dance partner, Kristina Rihanoff after they were paired on the show in 2009.

However, the pair split in 2013 after a four year relationship, with Joe saying at the time: 'She is a wonderful woman but we have mutually and amicably decided to go our separate ways.' 

Calzaghe has two sons, Joe and Connor, from an 11-year marriage to Mandy Davies from 1994 to 2005. He split from his girlfriend of five years, Jo-Emma Larvin, in 2009.
