GIRL ABOUT TOWN: Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr sells his £13million Surrey pad to Czech billionaire

Ringo Starr has just made himself a whole lot wealthier after selling his Surrey pad to a Czech billionaire for £13.5 million.

The ex-Beatle put 17th Century Rydinghurst on the market eight months ago, and the 200-acre estate has been snapped up by property magnate Radovan Vitek, who already owns a palatial home in Belgravia.

I revealed in September that Ringo, worth an estimated £190 million, decided to sell as he and his wife Barbara Bach, a former Bond Girl, spend much of their time in LA.

Actress Jenny Agutter’s first foray into the digital era has ended in disaster.

When the Call The Midwife star attempted to set up a Twitter page to keep in touch with fans, she discovered that one scoundrel had started a fake ‘official’ account in her name.

Fortunately, that hasn’t put off Jenny, 62, even though she struggles with new technology. ‘For the younger generation it’s second nature but it’s different when you’re my age,’ she says.

Forget about getting a ‘beach body’ through protein powders or other fancy diet fads… you just need bananas and cheese, according to distinguished actor John Standing, who still looks pretty good at 80.

When he has a carb craving he eats no more than half a banana with a larger-sized hunk of brie to keep hunger at bay, as he revealed when I quizzed him by phone last week.

‘It’s one of life’s major pleasures and it really fills you up,’ he told me.
