Most users were full of praise for the combinations of names.

One woman called Chloe Mcgeoch said: 'Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is such a cute name,' while another called Maric Acira said: 'Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, good choice!'

Unsurprisingly, many were over the moon about the inclusion of Diana - a nod to William's late mother.

The name had been one of the favourites all along.

Stephanie Clark said: 'Love that Diana's name is in there, such a lovely tribute to her.'

Twina Brown added: 'I'm so happy with the fact Kate and Will put Diana's name in the new royal babies name.'

Laura Wattenberg, author of the book The Baby Name Wizard believes that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a tricky job on their hands when it came to naming their daughter.

She told FEMAIL: 'Naming a prince or princess is part baby naming, part branding exercise.

The name has to represent the British throne, which today means conjuring up proud traditions without sounding haughty.

'Charlotte Elizabeth Diana does that, with an extra twist: it honours the delicate balance of William's family, yet avoids saddling his daughter with an image that's too hard to live up to.

'As a total package, they couldn't have done better.'

While most were happy with the choice, some royals fans were still disappointed with the fact that the couple hadn't gone with the name Alice.

Vicki Rice  said: 'The royal baby name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. I was so hoping for Alice. So sad.'

Sophie Houghton ‏seconded: 'I would've like Alice, but you never know, they could have another daughter and call her Alice.'

The wait is finally over. The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a little princess - an 8lb 3oz sister for George.

Fashion Finder was excited to catch a glimpse of the new addition to the Royal family who will no doubt follow in her fashionable mother's footsteps. But we were just as thrilled to see the Duchess herself, absolutely glowing as she stepped out of St Mary's Hospital.

Kate may have just given birth, but she looked as elegant and stylish as always wearing a spring fresh dress by Jenny Packham. Duchess devotees will remember that she wore a blue polka dot frock by the same designer when she left the hospital with Prince George almost two years ago and both were custom made.

Better known for her showstopping evening and bridal wear, Packham is a favorite of Kate's and this very pretty dress with it's loose fitting shift silhouette is a lovely choice for her first appearance with her baby daughter. The sunny floral print is a motif from Packham's SS15 collection but as Kate's dress is bespoke it's not available to buy online.

Others hankered after the name Victoria, like Hinny, who said: 'I like the name but I would have liked more if it was Victoria instead of Charlotte, but oh well.'

Laura Wattenberg believes that although this is the couple's second child, the naming process was actually more difficult because of recent royal history.

She said: 'The heir's name naturally attracts the most attention, and the most pressure.

'In this case, though, I think naming a girl was a bigger challenge.

'You want a name with a regal legacy, but many of the obvious girl's options came with too much legacy (Diana, Victoria, Elizabeth).'

Celebrities were quick to pass their judgement on the name too, with the princess's namesake - Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby leading the charge

She said: 'Well well well PRINCESS CHARLOTTE. What a bloody great name! Good choice Kate and wills BIG UP YASELF (sic).'

Former Apprentice contestant was also happy about the choice, especially the inclusion of Diana, saying: 'Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana! Yay we know the name. So happy Diana is in there (even if it does come after Elizabeth!)'

Meanwhile, Ed Miliband also took time out of his busy schedule to tweet: 'Wishing Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana a long & happy life. I hope the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge are enjoying her first, special days.'
