'I'm a leggy blonde': Stephen Merchant wears cut-out leather trousers as he has a hilarious showdown with Malin Akerman in Lip Sync Battle sneak peek
He may not be known for his racy fashion taste.
But in a new sneak peek for Thursday night's Lip Sync Battle, co-creator Stephen Merchant ups the sartorial ante with cut-out leather trousers.
The English comedian, 40, appears to pull out all the stops as he goes head-to-head with the glamorous and beautiful Malin Akerman, 36.

Tough call: Stephen Merchant competes against Malin Akerman, 36, as he performs Christina Aguilera's song Dirrty
But rather than simply put their lip syncing skills to the test, Merchant looks to have also wanted a battle of sex appeal.
Merchant busted out all of his quirky moves - literally almost all of them - while lip synching to Christina Aguilera's Dirrty.
The comedian boldly describes himself as a 'leggy blonde' and demonstrated the same confidence while battling the Swedish-Canadian model, who pretended to be unimpressed.
All out: The 40-year-old gives a hilarious and impressive performance at the Lip Sync Battle, airing this Thursday
Heating up: The two stars rise to the challenge as both of their performances escalate to an extreme status of spectacular
Pulled onto the stage in a single-person cage by eight pole dancing females, he escaped to the appropriate lyrics, 'Ooh I'm overdue, give me some room. I'm coming through.'
The comedian wore a short Union Jack printed tank top sharing a friendly glimpse of his happy trail, with black and red hip-hugging leather chaps.
Underneath the chaps he energetically shook his bum in booty shorts that displayed the word 'Nasty' across the back.
Well-versed: The comedian-writer-director-actor and all around entertainer has had plenty of experience lip synching, and serves as one of the show's partners
The Emmy and Golden Globe winner is one of the partners that Spike TV has paired with to create the show.
The other partners include comedian and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, The Office's John Krasinski, and Matador Productions.
The series debuted on April 2 and just announced the signing of an additional 20 episodes that will air in 2016.
Can't touch this: The English star wore a Union Jack printed tank top, paired with black and red leather chaps that left an opening in the front and back to see his booty shorts with the word 'Nasty' displayed on them
Akerman, who wasn't fooled by Merchants' initially calm demeanor, also wasn't intimidated by his spectacular patriotic flair.
When asked, 'Malin, was that not amazing?' by the host, LL Cool J, she responded without hesitation, 'Yeah, it was NOT amazing.'
The 27 Dresses star rose to the occasion by lip synching her heart out in a tightly fitted low cut tank top and skinny black trousers, holding the mic close to her mouth in a rockstar-like manner.
Hot stuff: The Swedish Canadian actress brought her A-game as she fake belted the lyrics to her song in an all black, tightly fitted ensemble
Based on her ensemble, the international beauty performed what appeared to be a hip hop number.
She rocked the same low cut black tank top, covered with a leather jacket and multiple chains draped around her neck, paired with baggy black leather trousers.
Covering the majority of her blonde hair was a bright red hat complemented by matching bright red sneakers, as she busted her moves accompanied by a group of background dancers.
Bust a move: The blonde model got down to business with baggy leather trousers and a leather jacket, accompanied by background dancers
The winner of the battle is yet to be decided, but by the looks of their incredible attire and high performance dance moves, it will be a close call.
Merchants cage-escaping, booty-shaking moves cannot be easy to top, but Malin's confident display suggests he'll have a run for his money.
The greatly anticipated battle between the two will air at 10:00pm ET/PT this Thursday night.
All out: Akerman's dedicated performance will be aired this Thursday night and may be enough to defeat the disturbingly patriotic display from Merchant
