Kim Kardashian wears her most daring dress yet to the Met Gala as she flashes flesh in a sheer Roberto Cavalli gown (but did she copy Beyonce?)

She's been hit or miss over the last couple of years at the Met Gala.

But this year Kim Kardashian made sure to put her best assets forward in a Roberto Cavalli gown, successfully nullifying any whispers of a repeat of her 2013 fashion nightmare.

The 34-year-old displayed her heavenly figure on Monday night at the Anna Wintour hosted event in a sheer lace gown, revealing she had forgone underwear for the evening.

Barely protecting her modesty, the star pulled her dark locks back into a tight ponytail as her olive skin was on full display in the diaphanous gown.

With delicate pieces of lace covering the essentials, Kim proved once again just how body confident she truly is.

Her gown also featured a long feathery train that trailed behind her as she was led on the red carpet by her husband Kanye West, who sported a dapper suede suit.

However, some have pointed out that Kim's sheer gown looks suspiciously similar to Beyonce's choice of attire at the 2012 Met Gala - with the pop star seeming to have been an inspiration to the reality star.

'Just finished my final Met dress fitting with none other than Peter Dundas for @Roberto_Cavalli,' the reality star tweeted excitedly just hours before the big night of fashion (with no mention of Bey). 'This will be his 1st dress for Cavalli!'

While last week she wrote on Twitter: 'OMGGGGG I just finished a 2 hour MET Ball dress fitting! I think this is one of my favorite dresses ever!!!!!!! Can’t wait'.

Copy Kim's cameo in Cavalli in a white sheer embellished gown

She’s a fashion devotee to her favorite designers Givenchy and Balmain, but Kim Kardashian is continuing to dip her toes into the style world and has made her first debut in Roberto Cavalli for the 2015 Met Gala. And we didn't think we'd see so much of her.

Reminiscent of Beyonce's 2012 Met Gala appearance in a semi sheer Givenchy gown which made headlines, Kim made it clear it was her time to shine in the intricately created crystal and feather embellished creation designed by Peter Dundas who has returned to the helm of Cavalli.

And since it’s her first time wearing the Italian brand, we think she’s done a great job of pulling off the dramatic feather-train dress in synchrony with the evening’s oriental theme. That’s two birds with one stone, for you!

Designed to flatter her hourglass figure with its form-fitting design and see-through inserts in all of the right places, Dundas made sure Kim winged it at tonight's Met Gala, and it's one of the best looks we've seen on her to date thanks to its manic simplicity.

Sadly, Kim's dress is not available to buy since it's past season, but you can shop Cavalli's current collection at Net-a-Porter (click right) or check out our favorite white sheer maxi dresses in the edit below.

In 2013 Kim caught flack for wearing a figure hugging floral print dress designed by Riccardo Tisci that many believed was garish and unflattering - drawing comparisons to Mrs Doubtfire.

While the next year she landed a smash hit with a stunning gown. The TV personality was clearly intent upon fashion redemption as she wore a plunging Lanvin dress, which certainly provided a kind of sartorial salvation.

And on Monday Kim seemed to be getting nostalgic over her two previous appearances at the gala. The mother-of-one posted snaps from the Met Ball, which she attended both times with her husband Kanye West.

Previous themes have included punk, superheroes and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Many celebrities have been busy sharing behind-the-scenes pictures of their preparations, but there is a social media ban at the event that has been circulated to all attendees, according to reports.

Guests will receive notice upon arrival that 'the use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted' throughout the event, a controversial ban which has apparently come at the request of the evening’s host, Anna Wintour.

The new rule may also be partially attributed to Ms. Wintour's own distaste for posting personal photos on social media.

In an interview last year, the Vogue boss said: 'I’ve never taken a selfie and I don’t plan to start now.'

The exhibit, called Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion, will run at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, Costume Institute through August 15.

It explores the way Chinese art and aesthetics have been interpreted by the West over the years.

The show boasts a massive 30,000 square feet of gallery space filled with rich ensembles: Chinese costumes, historic garments and decorative arts, displayed beside the work of dozens of Western designers who were inspired by China, including names like John Galliano, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Cristobal Balenciaga, Jean Paul Gaultier and many more.

The show also features work by Chinese or Chinese-American designers - Jason Wu, for example, who designed both of Michelle Obama's inaugural gowns - working either in China or elsewhere around the globe.

The exhibit, a joint endeavor of the Costume Institute and the Met's Asian Art department, is one of the most ambitious in scope the museum has undertaken, director Thomas Campbell said Monday at a preview.

And it is fully three times the size of the usual spring Costume Institute show, noted Andrew Bolton, its curator, comprising not just the institute's galleries but the entire Asian Art department.
