With Rafael Nadal's loss in the Madrid final, and his drop to No. 7 (!!!!) in the ATP Tour rankings, Raonic will rise to a career best No. 4 when the new list comes out in Monday. It's one of those momentary quirks in the ranking system, just as when Genie Bouchard rose to No. 6 a few weeks ago even though she didn't even play the tournament in Stuttgart - all because Ana Ivanovic was an early-round casualty. Raonic reached the semi-finals in Rome a year ago and with the 52-week rolling ranking system, those 360 points will drop off the computer at the end of the Italian Open, with Raonic unable to defend them because of his foot issue.
