'You've lived through my worst fear': Taylor Swift responds to fan whose mother died... after revealing her mom's cancer diagnosis

Taylor Swift has responded to a fan who shared her grief over her mother's death in an open letter.

And as she celebrates Mother's Day, the emotional message resonated with the pop star whose own mother is battling cancer.

'I love you so much and can’t imagine what you must be feeling today,' the 25-year-old wrote on her Tumblr page. 'You’ve lived through my worst fear.'

'I’m so sorry you can’t spend today with her. It’s not fair, and there’s no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today.'

She continued: 'I admire and respect your ability to put forth such a sunny, sweet disposition when you’ve been through something so dark and tragic so recently.

'I never would’ve guessed by your attitude or your posts. I never would’ve known if you hadn’t told me. Sending you a huge hug today. Gonna go get iced coffee and cheers to you. :)'

The Blank Spaces singer replied to a note that was made all the more poignant as she celebrates the holiday with her mother Andrea Swift - who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Her fan Kaileen wrote on Tumblr: 'It’s me, iced coffee girl, and I could really use a hug. Today is Mother’s Day, a day most people spend with their mothers thanking them for everything they do. But, for me, I can’t spend this day with my mom because she’s in heaven.

'Last January, my mom passed away and a piece of my heart left with her. My mom was my best friend, the one I laughed with, the one I cried with, and the one I loved with my whole heart. For a while, I felt empty.

She continued: 'But as you’ve done many times before, you filled that hole. You took me out of my sad place and made me happy. And because of you, I got through something that was the hardest thing in the world for me.

'Today’s going to be another hard day, but I know with you on my side I can get through anything. I love you. Always, Kaileen.'

Emotions were running high for the blonde, whose 57-year-old mother made a rare public appearance last month to honor her with the Milestone Award at the American Country Music Awards.

Andrea's presence at the show came after the musician announced on April 9 that her mother was diagnosed with cancer after she urged her to get screened.

However she did not disclose the specific condition or treatment plan, citing that the family wants to keep it private.

Taylor shared with her fans on the social media website: 'For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine.

'She agreed, and went in to get checked. There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it. The results came in, and I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.

'[Andrea] wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they've got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle… Or peace of mind in knowing that they're healthy and there's nothing to worry about.

'She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She's got an important battle to fight.'
