Jared Leto shows off his impressive guns in a vest top as he covers his green hair while sightseeing in Rome

He's metaphorically used to wearing a number of different hats, however Jared Leto seem to have one literal favourite piece of headgear he's never seen without.

The 43-year-old actor and rock-star stepped out of his hotel in Rome on Monday wearing the same furry hat that he's been wearing almost constantly to trot the Globe.

It's probably to cover up his green hair and lack of eyebrows - he's transformed to play the role of the new Joker in Suicide Squad which he's been filming in Canada.

However, the Oscar-winner cut a bizarre sartorial figure in the Italian city as he teamed up his trusty hat with a sleeveless vest-top which showed off his impressive guns.

To complete the outfit he wore baggy black board shorts over the top of grey and blue leggings and tied a waist pack around his middle.

The Dallas Buyers Club actor showed off his body art on both arms, and hid his eyes behind bronzed aviator sunglasses.

The star appears to be wearing trainers with silver fastenings which are from his band's own merchandising range.

He's currently taking a break from filming the DC Comic role to tour with his band 30 Seconds To Mars.

The band recently played a gig in a mountain resort in Austria, where his hat was more suitable, and two secret shows in London and Paris.

And then he took the hat along to sightsee in various locations in Europe, including Paris on Sunday.

Jared is more familiar with long ombre locks, which he chopped off in March in preparation for playing the reckless villain in the hotly anticipated film, following in the footsteps of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson.

The actor has previously gone to extreme lengths to get into character for his movies, most notably when he dropped 40lbs to play a transgender AIDS sufferer in Dallas Buyers Club.
