About EDV Global Foundation
EDV Global Foundation is a registered charity (1144078) based in the UK and is a world leading organisation in addressing domestic violence.
There are three distinct elements to EDV's approach to domestic violence :
- Advocacy and Education
- Research and Policy Development
- Programme Design and Implementation
Each element works together to form a coordinated whole. Our advocacy and education raise awareness of the sheer scale of domestic violence and the moral and practical reasons to reduce it. Our research and policy development find the gaps in domestic violence response and the best practices in tackling it. Finally, our programme design and implementation demonstrates practical ways that research can be applied. Combining all three approaches leads to well-researched, fully-funded, cost-effective and public-supported responses to domestic violence, that improve life chances, improve economies and most importantly save lives.
In doing so, EDV hopes to see organisations, states and governments move toward a position where the elimination of domestic violence is not only seen as a key issue worth addressing, but also that domestic violence is culturally unacceptable. 1 in 6 men and 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence throughout their lifetime - women aged 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than they ar from cancer, malaria, motor accidents or war. Every culture, every community is affected. But progress is being made, and successes are being achieved. With your support and by working collaboratively with the many inspiring people we regularly meet at EDV, domestic violence can be eliminated.
